Synopsis

After his grandfather's death leaves him alone in the world, 19-year-old Kazuya Souma—a wannabe civil servant—gets yanked into the Elfrieden Kingdom in another world. He's been summoned as a "hero" to help fight an ongoing war with demons that's threatening the entire realm, essentially as a political offering from Elfrieden to its allies. But Kazuya isn't interested in being used as a bargaining chip. Instead of picking up a sword, he decides the kingdom's real problem is its failing economy. Before he knows it, he's been crowned king and engaged to the princess. Now he's got to recruit capable people and use boring stuff like administrative reform to actually fix things—the kind of work that'll make or break a kingdom a lot faster than any battlefield ever could.
