Synopsis

This was the first animated adaptation of Hamtarou, presented as four short episodes. Crawling Around, Hamtarou: Natsumi gets home to find Hamtarou missing from his cage. Turns out he's been hiding under her blanket the whole time, and he introduces himself directly to the viewer. Hamuchanzu Corner ~ Biscuits in the Vase: Bijou drops a biscuit into a vase while running across the roof posts, and Hamtarou and the other Ham-Hams try to help her get it back. After a few failed attempts, Hamtarou comes up with the idea to lower himself into the vase like one of those crane games. It works—he grabs the biscuit—but the vase starts wobbling and he nearly falls. Lucky for him, the dog wakes up just in time and catches him with a pillow. Bijou's so grateful she hugs Hamtarou, and we end with the dog padding back to sleep. I Love You, Natsumi-chan: Hamtarou's got something on his mind and goes through this whole manly montage about it. When Natsumi leaves for school, she tells him she likes him while petting him. What she doesn't realize is that Hamtarou's confessing he's actually in love with her—but he knows she only sees him as a pet. Then Natsumi meets up with her classmate Shirohara to walk to school, and Hamtarou immediately decides this guy's his rival since he knows Natsumi has a crush on him. He spends the day complaining to Wanta about losing Natsumi's affection to Shirohara and basically wears himself out. But when Natsumi gets home and tells Hamtarou she loves him very much, he's on top of the world. Hamuchanzu Corner ~ Yellow Happiness: Hamtarou and the Ham-Hams are plotting to score some sunflower seeds.
