Shuuichi Kagaya is just your average high school student—except he sometimes turns into a monster. He has no idea where the ability came from or why he has it, and he'd really prefer to keep it secret. But one night, he spots a building on fire with a girl trapped inside. He can't ignore that, so he transforms, grabs her, and gets her out—though he accidentally leaves his phone behind in the process. The next morning, that girl—Claire Aoki—tracks him down and demands to know about his monster form. When he tries to deny everything, she literally pushes him off the school roof to force him to transform. Desperate, he does, and Claire seizes the moment to snap a photo. Blackmail achieved. She forces him to tell her everything he knows about monsters, which, as it turns out, isn't much. Turns out Claire's got secrets of her own. Her sister became a monster too, and she's been searching for her. She ropes Shuuichi into helping with the search, but they're not the only ones looking for answers.
