Synopsis

After his mother died when he was young, elementary school kid Capeta Taira had to grow up fast to keep his hardworking father from worrying even more. His dad worked construction and was constantly pulling overtime just to pay the bills. Capeta put on a tough front, but deep down he was lonely and life was rough—made worse by a bully named Nobu Andou, though at least his classmate Monami Suzuki had his back. One day, Capeta's father stumbled across some young go-kart racers tearing around a track and got inspired. He started collecting scrap parts from the facility and piecing together something special for his son. When Capeta and Monami snuck into the workplace to see what his dad was up to, they found a homemade go-kart with Capeta's name on it. It was beat-up and had no engine, but it actually worked. Unable to resist, Capeta took it out for a spin despite the heavy rain. Driving downhill on the wet pavement should've been dangerous, but instead it flipped a switch in him. That near-disaster turned into pure adrenaline, and suddenly his life had direction. Capeta had found his passion—racing.
