Synopsis

Humans have been trashing the ocean for ages, dumping garbage and destroying the habitats of countless sea creatures. One squid finally snaps. Fed up with the pollution and disrespect, Ika Musume decides it's time to rise from the depths and make humanity pay. Armed with all the typical squid abilities—powerful tentacles, ink attacks, bioluminescence—she emerges ready for revenge. She surfaces at the Lemon Beach House, a seaside restaurant run by two sisters, Eiko and Chizuru Aizawa. Ika figures they're an easy target for her master plan of world domination, so she declares war on them immediately. Except. she's completely helpless on land. To make matters worse, she accidentally destroys part of the restaurant's wall while trying to show off, and ends up forced to work as a waitress to pay for the damages. Her grand invasion is basically over before it started. But something unexpected happens. Working at the Lemon Beach House actually turns out to be pretty great. Ika Musume settles into her new life surprisingly well, and between the wacky situations and colorful cast of regulars, she starts genuinely enjoying herself. She's making real friendships and memories—the complete opposite of her original mission. Now she's taking on the world one squid ink spaghetti dish at a time, though probably not in the way she originally intended.
