In a remote village, twin siblings were born on opposite sides of midnight. Years pass, and their lives have diverged completely—Yuru's become a hunter, while his sister Asa remains confined to a cage, bound by some mysterious obligation that keeps her isolated from almost everyone. Then one day, armed soldiers arrive by helicopter (the villagers call them "dragons") and massacre every adult they find, hunting specifically for Yuru. He rushes to meet up with Asa so they can escape, but discovers a corpse instead. Worse, a woman claiming to be his actual twin sister is standing over the body—and she's the one who killed Asa. Before she can grab him, Yuru's saved by Dera, an outsider who's visited the village before. But their escape is short-lived; they're quickly trapped with nowhere to go. In desperation, Dera forces Yuru to present an offering to the village's deity. This summons a pair of daemons whose very existence is connected to uncovering the truth about everything that's happening.
