Synopsis

This theatrical film adapts Yokoyama Mitsuteru's manga, following boy detective Kaneda Shotaro and his giant robot Tetsujin 28 in Tokyo, a decade after World War II ended. The story introduces Shotaro's long-missing brother, who was trained to pilot Tetsujin—a massive combat robot Japan built during the war. Now that the fighting's over, he's struggling to find his place in a peaceful country. Meanwhile, mysterious "Destruction Bombs" start turning up scattered across Tokyo. Their creator? Shotaro's own father, Professor Kaneda, who designed both Tetsujin and these weapons as a last-resort defense for Japan. If even one goes off, Tokyo gets wiped out.
