Synopsis

Rentt Faina was an experienced adventurer with nothing to show for it—until he stumbled into a dragon's lair and got killed for his trouble. He wakes up as a skeleton, the weakest form of undead, trapped in a monster-infested labyrinth. But as he fights his way through, he realizes something crucial: defeating monsters lets him level up and evolve into stronger undead forms. Better yet, some of those forms actually have flesh. His new goal becomes clear—keep evolving until he reaches vampire status, the highest tier of undead and the closest thing to human. The catch? He's stuck wearing an unremovable mask that hides his true nature. With nowhere else to turn, he gets help from Lorraine Vivier, a retired adventurer and researcher who lets him stay with her. Using her surname as his own, Rentt reinvents himself as a rookie adventurer. He's finally got a shot at his childhood dream—reaching mithril-class status—but he has to be extremely careful. If the adventurers' guild finds out what he actually is, they'll kill him without hesitation.
