Synopsis

Maya is a young honeybee who's naturally curious and independent—qualities that don't exactly mesh well with hive life and its rigid rules. As a worker bee, she's supposed to follow orders, but that's never really been her style. When the flowers around the hive run dry, Maya decides to fly out and find a new garden on her own. The problem? She doesn't ask permission. The Queen's not happy about this, so she sends Maya's friend Willy to bring her back. Instead, Willy ends up joining Maya on her adventure, and the two of them discover just how amazing the world beyond the hive really is. Along the way, they encounter all sorts of insects and face situations that are sometimes beautiful, sometimes dangerous, sometimes heartbreaking. By the end of it all, Maya has grown into a wiser, tougher bee—one who's learned a lot about herself and the world around her.
