Hanayamata
At 14, Naru Sekiya feels like she doesn't measure up—not to the fairy tale princesses she loves, and definitely not to the ideal version of herself she wants to be. Her childhood friends aren't making things easier: Yaya's killing it in the school rock band, and Tami's already on student council. Desperate for some kind of change, Naru's been wishing for a magic key to unlock her timid heart since starting high school. One night under the moonlight, she spots what looks like an adorable fairy dancing on top of a torii gate and gets pulled into dancing with her. Turns out the next day that this "fairy" was just a regular girl—and a new transfer student from America, no less. Hana N. Fountainstand is thrilled to see Naru again and immediately recruits her to start a yosakoi club. Hana's been obsessed with the traditional Japanese dance since she was a kid and sees it as her passion project. At first, Naru's way too nervous about Hana's wild energy and the idea of dancing in front of people. But gradually she gets pulled into yosakoi and ends up helping Hana chase her dream. Sometimes life just takes you where you need to go.
