In a world of anthropomorphic animals, carnivores and herbivores live in an uneasy coexistence. When a student at Cherryton Academy—Tem, an alpaca in the drama club—is killed in a predation incident, the existing tension between the two groups explodes. Legoshi, a grey wolf who works on the stage crew, becomes an immediate suspect. He's spent his whole life being feared for what he is, and after Tem's death, the suspicion only intensifies. Rather than confront it, he keeps his head down, which frustrates Louis, the drama club's charismatic red deer star. One night, while Louis is secretly rehearsing Tem's replacement for an upcoming show, he has Legoshi stand guard outside. That same evening, Legoshi meets Haru, a white dwarf rabbit who's been isolated and mistreated by the rest of the student body. He's drawn to her, but his predatory instincts make the attraction complicated and dangerous. Through her, Legoshi is forced to face who he really is, what actually happened to Tem, and the violence simmering just below the surface of their supposedly civilized society.
