Tensho School sits in the 7th Ward of Thrive Central and takes its extracurricular clubs seriously—especially when it comes to the annual fall singing contest. Transfer student Saku Otonomiya's already got a lot on his plate. His school year got delayed because his older sister had to be hospitalized, and now he's juggling a part-time job, caring for her, and trying to figure out how to fit in at a new school. Joining a club seems impossible. The school's singing club wants to perform Sousuke Kagura's song "Cloudy Days" at the contest, but Kagura won't let them use it. The song demands a three-octave vocal range, and he's convinced only a VOCALOID could pull it off. He agrees to let them have it—but only if they find an actual person who can hit those notes. One day, while working on new material, Kagura hears Otonomiya singing "Cloudy Days" flawlessly. He immediately asks Otonomiya to form a unit with him for the competition. Meanwhile, the singing club catches wind of this and starts pressuring Otonomiya to join them instead so they can finally use Kagura's song. With the contest approaching fast, Otonomiya has to decide who he's going to team up with—if he commits to anyone at all.
