Synopsis

Crimson Denizens and Rinne—creatures from another world—feed on human souls. To keep things balanced, Flame Hazes hunt them down. Yuuji Sakai's never heard any of this. His day starts normally enough until everyone around him suddenly freezes in place. Only he can still move. That's when a Rinne shows up and starts devouring the souls of the frozen people, and things get bad fast—until a red-haired Flame Haze with a katana pulls him out of the line of fire. After patching things up, she drops some heavy truths. Yuuji could move because he's already dead—he's a Torch, basically a leftover human soul that'll eventually disappear completely. Worse, he's also a Mystes, which means he's carrying something valuable inside him. Whatever treasure he's got, Crimson Denizens will be hunting for it before his flame goes out. So the Flame Haze sticks around to keep him alive. Now that Yuuji knows he's dead, he decides to make whatever time he has left count.
