Synopsis

Moritaka Mashiro wanted to be a mangaka as a kid, inspired by his uncle Tarou Kawaguchi, who created a successful gag manga. That dream died after a tragedy, and he spent middle school focused on becoming a salaryman instead. Then Akito Takagi, his school's top student and a would-be writer, spots Moritaka's detailed drawings in his notebook. Recognizing real talent when he sees it, Akito convinces Moritaka to team up and create manga together. Moritaka agrees—partly because he realizes that if they make it big, maybe Miho Azuki, his crush, will voice act in the anime adaptation. Working under the pen name Muto Ashirogi, the two set out to become the greatest mangaka Japan has ever seen.
