Synopsis

Back in 1882, a guy named Sanshirou shows up in Tokyo looking for someone to teach him martial arts. He finds Yano, a judo master who's basically a legend—the guy once took on 39 jujitsu fighters and won. Sanshirou is blown away and becomes his student. While he's training, he falls for Sayo, whose dad is a martial arts instructor for the police. On top of that, he's got to deal with Higaki Gennosuke, a seriously skilled jujitsu fighter and his biggest rival. The story's based on a novel by Tsuneo Tomita, and Akira Kurosawa adapted it into a film back in 1943.
