Synopsis

In the future, robotics has advanced to the point where heavy robots called "labors" are everywhere—used for construction, firefighting, military operations, you name it. The problem is, robots are just tools, and the people operating them aren't always honest. When your tool weighs several tons and can crush buildings, that's a serious problem. So the police started fighting back the only way that made sense: with their own heavy robots, called "patlabors." The series follows the Second Special Vehicles Division, a ragtag group of cops trying to keep the peace with their labor units while somehow managing to have normal lives outside the job.
