Saber Marionette J
In a far future where Earth has become too crowded, humanity attempts to colonize other planets. A ship called the Mesopotamia suffers a catastrophic malfunction, killing nearly everyone aboard—only 6 survivors make it to a nearby planet called Terra II, which resembles Earth in most ways. There's one major problem: they're all male. Rather than give up, the survivors establish six separate countries and rely on cloning and genetic engineering to continue their species. To fill the gap left by the absence of women, they create lifelike female androids called Marionettes to handle daily work and chores. These androids are essentially emotionless machines—until a boy named Otaru discovers three special combat-model Marionettes that are different. Thanks to something called a "Maiden Circuit," these three actually have feelings. Otaru takes it upon himself to help the Marionettes understand and develop their emotions. When a neighboring country threatens to take over the world, he and his newfound companions have to defend their home—and prove that artificial beings with real emotions might be humanity's best hope.
