Chihayafuru
As a kid, Chihaya Ayase had one goal: help her older sister Chitose become Japan's top model. That changed when she stood up for a bullied classmate, Arata Wataya, against her childhood friend Taichi Mashima—and discovered competitive karuta in the process. She was instantly hooked. Karuta is a card game based on the Ogura Hundred Poets collection. It demands serious memory skills, quick reflexes, and serious stamina. Excited by this new world, Chihaya joins the Shiranami Society with Arata and Taichi (who've made peace), determined to become Queen of Karuta—the top-ranked female player in Japan. By high school, things had shifted. Taichi had become distant and unmotivated, and Chihaya had lost touch with Arata. But Chihaya isn't done with the sport. She decides to start a karuta club at Mizusawa High School, recruiting Taichi and some fresh, enthusiastic players. Together, they set their sights on winning the national championship at Omi Shrine.
