It's 1976 in Seveso, a quiet town in northern Italy. Eleven-year-old Giulia Bianchi is just a normal kid—until a chemical plant nearby has an accident and dumps a weird white powder all over everything. The company running the plant isn't telling anyone what's actually going on, so Giulia and her friends decide to figure it out themselves. Dead animals start piling up, people get sick with increasingly nasty symptoms, and it becomes clear something really bad happened. They end up working with Shirou Andou, a journalist from Japan, to dig into what the company did and try to make them answer for it.
