A herbivore dinosaur stumbles upon an abandoned egg and brings it home to raise. When it hatches, out comes a carnivore—completely wrong for her family. But she can't bring herself to get rid of him, so she names him Heart and raises him in secret with her own kid. As Heart grows up, his carnivorous nature catches up with him. He can't stomach the plants his family eats, and when he finally realizes he's a predator who needs meat, he bolts in shame. Years pass, and Heart is now the dangerous predator everyone fears. One day he finds another egg—this time laid by a herbivore like his original mother. When the baby hatches, Heart's first instinct is that it looks tasty. But the newborn sees Heart as his dad and names himself Umasou, which basically means "delicious-looking." Now Heart's stuck. He can't eat something that loves him, so he takes on the role his adoptive mother once played: raising a child that should be his natural prey. As he tries to be a good father to Umasou, Heart has to figure out what it actually means to be a predator and a parent in a world that sees them as enemies.
