Synopsis

Humanity has spread across the solar system, establishing colonies from Mercury all the way out to Pluto. To showcase the talent scattered throughout these worlds, a massive athletic tournament called the Daiundoukai brings together ambitious female competitors from every corner of space. The winner earns the prestigious title of Cosmo Beauty—basically royalty in this new era. Years ago, Kanata Akehoshi was just a potato farmer's daughter when she witnessed something incredible: a meteor-like object streaking across the sky before crash-landing in a nearby forest. She rushed to investigate and found a damaged spaceship with a girl inside, barely conscious from the impact. Before vanishing without a trace—along with all evidence of the crash—the girl pressed two wristbands into Kanata's hands and made her a request: enter the Daiundoukai and become the Cosmo Beauty. Kanata never even learned her name, but the promise stuck with her. From that moment on, she trained relentlessly to make good on it. After qualifying to represent Earth, Kanata enrolls at the University Satellite, a prep school where all the tournament candidates train together. She bonds with her fellow competitors, helping them work through their differences so they can perform better during the games. As Kanata climbs closer to the Cosmo Beauty crown, she inches closer to reuniting with the mysterious girl—and uncovers some serious secrets about the tournament itself along the way.
