Marriage
Marriage: Kekkon
Marriage is a two-part OVA directed by Miki Kasamatsu exploring romance and the search for love. The first episode follows a group of friends in their mid-twenties who are starting to think seriously about marriage. Among them is Shizuka, a shy woman her friends worry will never find someone because of her reserved nature. They convince her to join a dating service called The Wedding Club, hoping it'll help her meet someone. When her first match turns out to be a disappointment, Shizuka begins to doubt whether marriage is even possible for her. The second episode shifts focus to five sisters, where only one remains unmarried: the no-nonsense Kiyomi, who has zero interest in getting hitched. Her sisters have other plans, though. When a coworker asks Kiyomi out, they see an opportunity and push him to propose on the spot. Getting him to actually go through with it is one thing—getting the stubborn, intimidating Kiyomi to actually say yes is something else entirely. Whether he'll even have the nerve to ask, or whether she'd accept if he did, remains very much up in the air.
