After a brutal fight that cost them dearly, humanity finally manages to kill Godzilla—the monster that drove them off Earth twenty thousand years ago. Problem is, there's another one. Haruo Sakaki and his troops took down the first Godzilla, but barely. He wakes up injured in the home of a young girl from the Houtua tribe, human-like creatures who've evolved to survive on the transformed planet humanity abandoned long ago. Sakaki's remaining soldiers are in rough shape. With supplies running low and their home planet at stake, they're torn between giving up the mission and staging a fight they probably can't win. Then the Bilusaludo—an alien race allied with humanity—discover the wreckage of Mechagodzilla, an old weapon designed to take down Godzilla. It's a game-changer, except for one problem: the second Godzilla has been evolving for twenty thousand years, getting stronger and more prepared to crush anything that stands in its way.
