Juuni Senshi Bakuretsu Eto Ranger
The Eto Rangers travel in the Space-Time Transmitting Machine Kirinda to fix the Novel Worlds of Mugen—living storyworlds created by human imagination, from ancient folklore to modern books, that need to keep playing out for humanity's sake. The Rangers are anthropomorphic animals based on the 12 Chinese zodiac signs, each tied to the Twelve Branches in Buddhism. Princess Aura governs Mugen, an island continent suspended above the ocean from the Novel Pole in the sky. The Great God Goal grants her authority, but she's trapped in her small palace area and can't leave. The Rangers' enemy is Nyanma (real name Chocolat), the forgotten Spirit of Cats. She got disqualified from the original race to become one of the 12 protectors—there are different versions of why in actual legend—and now she's out for revenge. She warps the Novel Worlds using Jarei Monsters. When a Jarei Monster enters a story, it twists the plot into a distorted version or parody of itself. Bakumaru, the Spirit of Mice, uses the Genmakyou mirror to identify the monster ("Jarei Shouran!") once the Rangers gather enough clues. To do this, they usually have to act out parts of the story themselves, sometimes taking on character roles. Once they've beaten the creature, Bakumaru summons Kirinda by holding up one of Aura's 12 gems and shouting "Daikourin Kirinda!" Kirinda emerges from a dimensional tear and purifies the evil spirit with a beam attack while calling out "Jouka!"
