Toriyasu, a fifth-grader, and his younger sister Meeko discover their dog Papadoll has gone missing. A week later, two mysterious cats whisk them away to Banipal Witt, a distant cat kingdom where their dog has been taken. There's a catch—Papadoll's been exposed to the planet's sun for so long that he's mutated into a giant, monstrous dog now under the control of the villainous Princess Buburina. She's cursed with the ability to turn anyone she touches into balloons, and she's already done it to most of the city's population. Now Toriyasu, Meeko, and the cats are in a race against time: they have until sunrise to reverse Papadoll's mutation, restore the ballooned citizens, and get back home—or they'll suffer the same fate.
