Synopsis

Asa and Kame start their jobs as servants in the Inner Chambers on the same day and quickly become close friends. The Inner Chambers are basically a luxurious compound where all the ruler's concubines and female attendants live, and it's a place full of work no matter what rank you hold. The two of them promise to stick together and handle whatever comes their way. But things get weird fast. Between the complicated politics, strange rituals, and all the secrets people are keeping, bizarre incidents start happening right before an important ceremony. Shogunate officials show up to investigate, but then this mysterious Medicine Seller appears at the gates and insists on getting inside—saying that what's actually going on is far more dangerous than anyone realizes.
