Synopsis

Homunculi disguise themselves as humans and hunt unsuspecting people. These creatures were created ages ago by European alchemists and can only be defeated with special weapons called Kurogane. Each Kurogane is shaped differently depending on who wields it, manifesting as unique combat abilities known as Busou Renkin. One day on his way home from school, Kazuki Mutou witnesses a girl being attacked by a homunculus. He tries to help, but she ends up saving him instead—a moment that completely shatters his naïve view of the world. She introduces herself as Tokiko Tsumura and reveals that she's accidentally given him a Kurogane implant. Now stuck in this fight against homunculi whether he likes it or not, Kazuki has to abandon his carefree life if he wants to keep the people he cares about safe.
