Ayumu Tamari has Crystallization Syndrome—a condition that causes parts of his body to turn to crystal whenever he's under stress, making those areas nearly impossible to move. His severe social anxiety makes talking to classmates impossible, and his constant crystallization episodes force him to repeat his first year of high school. His one bright spot is his homeroom teacher, Kouya Onihara, who Ayumu calls "Oni-chan Sensei."
