It's the 25th century when a 300-person spacecraft leaves Earth searching for a new home somewhere in the solar system. Things go catastrophically wrong—they crash through a black hole that connects to a parallel universe, and the survivors end up scattered across a planet called Ismo in an emergency capsule. The story picks up twelve years after they've landed. Ismo is actually a star in the Onam System, basically the counterpart to our solar system. It's the only planet left orbiting it. A massive comet called Yomi—basically a death star—periodically swings through the system like clockwork. Here's the backstory: there used to be eight planets in the Onam System. Way back in ancient times, the gods fought against Yamatano Orochi, a monstrous eight-headed serpent creature. After they won, the gods sealed the monster into eight stones and buried one in the core of each planet. These were supposed to be permanently inaccessible. But Tsukuyomi, an evil god who rules Yomi, managed to reach those stones one by one. Using his army of powerful robots called Sky Warriors, he systematically destroyed seven of the eight planets. When he went after the final stone on Ismo, his most powerful creation—a Sky Warrior named Susanoo—suddenly malfunctioned and got thrown away before he could complete the mission. A million years pass. Now Yomi is approaching the Onam System again, and Tsukuyomi sees his chance. He's obsessed with claiming that last stone because it holds Yamatano Orochi. If he can get it, the monster will come back to life and its power will be his. He needs Susanoo to grab the stone, so he sends eight Sky Soldiers to track down the missing robot. Problem is, Susanoo isn't his anymore. A thirteen-year-old Earth boy named Takeru found the buried robot and woke it up from a million-year sleep. Now Takeru's caught up in a war against Tsukuyomi and his forces, with Susanoo standing beside him to protect both his new friends and their world.
