Synopsis

Sanzou is a Buddhist monk tasked by the Emperor with finding sacred Buddhist scriptures. When an Earth Deity tells him that Buddha has chosen him a disciple, Sanzou meets Son Goku—a mischievous Monkey Deity who's been trapped in a mountain for five hundred years after causing chaos in Heaven. He teams up with Goku, the easygoing womanizer Cho Hakkai, the heavenly general Sagojyou, and their horse (who's actually the Dragon Crown Prince Ryuuba in disguise). What follows is a series of wild adventures involving monster battles, ridiculous competitions, and all the mayhem you'd expect from a group like this.
