Synopsis

In the waning days of the Bakumatsu period, Japan entered a new era of peace and restoration. The legendary assassin known as Hitokiri Battousai vanished without a trace, becoming nothing more than a ghost story. Years pass. A humble wanderer named Kenshin Himura stumbles into the life of Kaoru Kamiya, who runs a struggling dojo in Tokyo. Kaoru's been searching for a fake Battousai—some killer using her father's sword style, the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu, a technique meant to protect life rather than take it. The impostor's been terrorizing the city, murdering citizens and cops. Kenshin agrees to help Kaoru hunt down the fraud and save her dojo's reputation. What Kaoru doesn't know is that Kenshin *is* the real Battousai—the very name that once made people tremble. When she finds out the truth, it should be a dealbreaker, but Kenshin's dedication to protecting the weak without killing wins her over. She lets him stay at the dojo. It's a fragile peace. Kenshin's past won't stay buried, and new enemies emerge to test whether his pacifist ideals can actually hold up in the real world.
