Synopsis

Jouji Ema spends his time at his all-boys school counting cute things as a way to break up the monotony—which isn't easy when there's basically nothing to look at. That changes after a mishap with his classmate Miyoshi Hayashi at the sports festival, when Hayashi starts following him around and asking if he thinks he's cute. Ema finds Hayashi's blunt, innocent personality weird but strangely compelling. Around the same time, Yuuichi Medaka's school year gets off to a rocky start when he ends up sitting in front of Akira Nikaidou, a gloomy guy who's got a reputation for cursing people who mess with him. Medaka makes it his mission to befriend Nikaidou, but it's not working. Just when he's ready to give up, he starts to realize that maybe Nikaidou isn't actually the bad omen everyone thinks he is.
