Synopsis

Even after death, there's still paperwork to deal with—and criminals. Tsuzuki Asato is a goofy, easygoing 26-year-old shinigami whose job is basically pest control for the dead: making sure the deceased stay dead and in their proper place. He's been doing this for over 70 years, though stuck in the worst division with terrible pay. He's also notorious for burning through partners fast, since shinigami work in pairs. That changes when he gets paired with Hisoka Kurosaki, a sharp-tongued, no-nonsense 16-year-old who actually sticks around. As Tsuzuki and Hisoka investigate case after case, they keep stumbling onto the trail of a serial killer named Dr. Muraki Kazutaka. Their partnership deepens, but Tsuzuki's haunted by his own dark past—specifically how he died—and it keeps him from ever finding real peace.
