Earth's climate is getting worse, so humanity moved to the Moon using advanced tech. Tomura Sawyer works as a courier in the upper levels, grinding away to save money for his younger brother Haru, who has Smoky Moon Disease—basically a lung condition caused by all the pollution down below. Both brothers want to move up to the cleaner areas so Haru can get proper treatment. Tomura decides to take a huge risk: enter the TV show "Run for Money" and actually win, even though he doesn't have the Chrono Bracelet everyone needs just to compete. A show producer named Harvest notices his determination and decides to help him out, giving him the bracelet and letting him in. From there, it's basically a high-tech game of tag. Tomura has to outlast every other contestant without getting caught by the Hunters—the ones doing the chasing. Easier said than done.
