Synopsis

Touko barely survives a violent attack and gets caught up in a city under siege by the Spiders—a dangerous tribe with supernatural powers. She'd come here to return the belongings of Haijuu, a fire hunter who died saving her life. Haijuu's dog Kanata and Akira, another fire hunter who's been protecting her, help her navigate the chaos. When Akira gets pulled away on urgent business, Touko ends up on her own, forced to forge a new path through the confusion. Across the city, Haijuu's son Koushi is fighting to keep the invaders at bay. He's not much of a fighter himself, but he's brilliant with weapons—he's even designed a devastating cannon that strikes enemies down with lightning. The gods aren't happy about this kind of power being used against their will, though. The deity Hibari specifically takes offense and moves to stop him. As both Touko and Koushi get pulled deeper into the schemes of ambitious gods and humans, they have to do whatever it takes just to stay alive.
