When Leoleshea, a dragon god, wakes up from a centuries-long nap in a glacier, she demands to meet the world's greatest game player. A year passes before Fay Theo Philus shows up—an apostle, which means he's a human with supernatural powers and the right to challenge gods in competition. Fay and Leoleshea hit it off immediately. They're both obsessed with games, whether it's cards or outsmarting a deity. Impressed, Leoleshea lets him call her Leshea and invites him to team up. Here's the deal: the gods let humans challenge them with the promise that ten wins grants any wish. Leshea wants to regain her divine status after she fell from grace. Fay has a simpler dream—he's searching for the woman who first taught him how to play. The pair work surprisingly well together, but the gods aren't about to hand them easy victories. Every game comes with its own bizarre rules and hidden twists. If Leshea and Fay want their wishes, they'll have to be in perfect sync.
