Kaede Azusagawa is finishing middle school and facing a big choice. Her school counselor thinks she should go to an online high school—she's been a shut-in for a while and has serious anxiety about regular classrooms. But Kaede wants to attend Minegahara High School like her brother Sakuta. She's desperate for a normal high school experience and asks Sakuta, his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima, and Mai's half-sister Nodoka Toyohama to help her study for the entrance exam. They're all in. Things don't go the way she imagined, though. As unresolved trauma bubbles up to the surface, Kaede has to figure out what she actually wants her future to look like—and it's way more complicated than she thought.
