Synopsis

Hikaru gets a call inviting him to compete in the Japan/China/Korea Junior Tournament, but there's a catch—he has to win a preliminary round first to secure one of Japan's three spots. When he tells Akira about it, he learns that Akira's already guaranteed a slot and won't need to compete in the preliminaries. Frustrated, Hikaru decides he won't visit Akira's Go Salon until he's earned his own place on the team. It turns out the preliminaries are going to be brutal. Not only is he up against people he knows, fighting for one of just two remaining spots, but there's also a talented newcomer from the Kansai Go Institute who could be a real problem.
