This is the true story of Anne Frank, a Jewish girl living in Amsterdam during World War II. When her father Otto realizes the danger facing Jews, he moves quickly to hide his family—his wife Edith, their two daughters Margo and Anne (then 13), and four others—in a secret annex behind their house. For two years, all eight people live in near-total isolation, constantly terrified of discovery and deportation to the camps. During this time, Anne keeps a diary, documenting their cramped daily existence in hiding, her tense relationship with her mother, and her first romance with Peter, another teenager in the annex. She writes about her longing to escape, to breathe fresh air, to see flowers again—to be free. Eventually they're discovered and deported. None of the eight survive.
