Dr. Yung is a mysterious scientist who's created a breakthrough machine that can bring back extinct Pokémon using digital data—think Kabutops, Armaldo, that kind of thing. He invites Ash, Misty, Professor Oak, and the gang to his mansion to show off what his Mirage System can do. But during a demo battle with Ash, something goes wrong. A Mirage Aerodactyl breaks loose, snatches Dr. Yung, and flies off. Then this guy calling himself "The Mirage Master" shows up and reveals his real plan: he's going to use the system to create perfect Pokémon with zero weaknesses. Now Ash, Misty, and Professor Oak have to figure out how to stop him and get out of there alive.
