Alto Goldfilled is a dedicated student at Ortigia Academy of Magic who dreams of becoming a powerful sorcerer. The problem? He's terrible at summoning. Despite being a straight-A student and genuinely putting in the work, he bombs his summoning class—bad enough that he's facing the prospect of repeating the whole year. Desperate to save himself, Alto digs up an old, beat-up grimoire and decides to try summoning on his own terms. Surprisingly, it actually works. He manages to summon Vermeil, a seriously powerful demon. Grateful for being freed, Vermeil agrees to become his familiar and seals the deal with a kiss.
