Kotetsushin Jeeg is set fifty years after the original series and follows a new protagonist, Kenji Kusanagi—a high school student who discovers he's the chosen pilot of Kotetsushin Jeeg. He's forced into action when clay robots called Haniwa Genjin suddenly resurface, unleashed by Queen Himika and her Jamada Empire. Joining him are Tsubaki Tamashiro, the granddaughter of original character Miwa Uzuki, and another new ally named Kyou Misumi. Several characters from the original series also make appearances throughout the story.
