Magic is all Meg Raspberry has ever known—she was raised by Faust, the Eternal Witch, and dreams of becoming just as powerful. Everything changes on her 17th birthday when Faust drops a bomb: Meg's got one year to live. A congenital curse means that once she turns 18, she'll age a thousand times faster than normal, dying within days. But there's a way out. Faust tells her she needs to consume a seed of life, which can only be created by collecting a thousand tears of joy in the next 12 months. It's an impossible-sounding task, but Meg doesn't have much choice. She sets out on a journey to gather these tears, meeting all kinds of people with their own stories along the way—and hopefully saving her own life in the process.
