That's because his life revolves around one thing: delivering tofu for his family's shop every morning up the mountain pass at Akina. Anything involving cars or driving just reminds him of that exhausting daily grind. One night, the Akagi Red Suns—a notorious street racing team led by brothers Ryousuke and Keisuke Takahashi—roll into Akina looking to dominate the local mountain course. They're on a mission to conquer every racing route in the Kanto region and cement themselves as the fastest crew around. But something unexpected happens on their way out: one of their two star drivers gets beaten by some old Toyota AE86 piloted by a mystery racer who clearly knows these roads inside and out. The encounter shakes the Takahashi brothers. They're now on high alert for whoever's behind the wheel of that AE86 on Mount Akina—someone with serious skill and local knowledge they didn't expect to run into.
