Jiu Se Lu
A Persian merchant gets caught in a windstorm and is rescued by a magical nine-colored deer. Later, the deer saves the same man from drowning in a river—he promises to keep the deer's location secret in return. But when the merchant reaches the king's palace, the ruler becomes obsessed with hunting the deer to use its skin for clothing. Greed gets the better of the merchant, and he agrees to lead the king's army to the creature. During the hunt, the merchant falls back into the river. The deer appears again, but this time the situation's different—the warriors' arrows mysteriously turn to dust, and the merchant drowns.
