Synopsis

Sable is a terrible student at the Royal Magic Academy in Wenias, and he can't remember anything before he enrolled. When the Headmaster assigns him to a special training mission in the southern territories, Sable jumps at the chance. His task: help establish a witch village in a region where witches aren't exactly welcome. He's joined by three companions—Roux, a powerful witch known as the Dawn Witch who carries the Staff of Ludens (a weapon that devours magic); Holt, a human girl with antlers; and Kudd, a Beastfallen lizard. The real problem is that witch hunters are still around. The Dia Ignis Arbiters were officially disbanded five years ago when the Church and witches made peace, but plenty of members are still active and very interested in capturing mages. The good news is that between Roux's dangerous staff and Sable's seemingly bottomless magical reserves, they might actually pull this off. The bad news? If they fail, Sable loses all his memories of magic and the academy—his only real lead on finding the silver-haired mage who rescued him in the first place.
