Synopsis

Maomao, an apothecary's daughter, gets sold into servitude at the imperial court and ends up as a maid in the lowest ranks. She decides to keep her medical knowledge under wraps to stay under the radar. When the emperor's babies suddenly fall mysteriously ill, Maomao figures out what's wrong pretty quickly. She tries to slip an anonymous tip to the right people, but the sharp-eyed eunuch Jinshi isn't fooled and tracks her down. Impressed by her skills, they promote her to lady-in-waiting for the emperor's favorite concubine, Gyokuyou. From there, Maomao becomes the court's go-to problem solver for all kinds of health issues, and her talent as a pharmacist turns out to be exactly what this place needed.
