Astro Boy
Tetsuwan Atom
Dr. Umatarou Tenma, director of the Ministry of Science, is shattered after his young son Tobio dies in a car accident. Desperate to undo the loss, he throws his entire institution's resources into building Atom—a robot crafted in his dead son's image. The android is brilliant, powerful, and innocent like a child should be. But Atom can't grow, and that breaks Tenma's fantasy. He can't see past the machine to what's actually in front of him. So he abandons Atom, selling him off to a robot circus where androids are worked like disposable property. Even treated as nothing more than a tool, Atom shows genuine kindness to both other robots and humans. He puts himself on the line to protect people whenever danger strikes. That changes when Dr. Ochanomizu—a scientist dedicated to robot rights—rescues him from the circus. With a second chance and Ochanomizu's support, Atom throws himself into making the world safer. Along the way, he discovers just how complicated human and robot coexistence really is.
