Synopsis

Uta Komaki's got talent—her name literally means "song"—but her crippling shyness keeps getting in the way. As a first-year, she's desperate to join the light music club and actually do something with her life, but she can't even work up the nerve to submit an application. The current members are just too intimidating. That's when Airi Kojou, president of the school's a cappella club, spots her and extends an invitation. Uta's never really thought about singing without instruments before, but when she hears how the voices layer together—all delicate and perfectly balanced, like the intricate layers of a mille-feuille—something just clicks. She's moved by the way everyone's voice matters equally in the mix. So Uta takes the plunge and joins. She's finally found a place where she can contribute without getting swallowed up by someone else's shine.
