Synopsis

Dai Mugen used to live and breathe drumming, but after losing to rival Rin Tanba in a competition, he lost his nerve and quit. He's been drifting ever since, unsure if he even wants to pursue it anymore. That changes when he meets Goutetsu, a weird creature who claims to be a god. Goutetsu sees something in Dai—potential he hasn't tapped into yet—and recruits him as his "oyakata," basically a coach for the world of kamizumo. It's sumo wrestling, except the fighters are gods, and they're powered by the rhythmic drumbeats their oyakata strikes. So Dai's forced to pick up his mallets again, whether he's ready or not. As Dai and Goutetsu start winning matches, something clicks. Dai works through his doubts and rediscovers why he fell in love with drumming in the first place. Now he's chasing a shot at the top of the kamizumo world.
